A babbling brook running down from the mountains ahead into the lake behind. I love how leafy and mossy the banks are, and the red stone, water-smoothed by who knows how long, sticking out of the falls seems almost shiny.
I loved this almost-secret mountain lake at the end of Avalanche Lake Trail. Surrounded and protected by mountains, there are multiple waterfalls that feed this water. I felt I could sit here with a book forever.
Lake McDonald at the end of the day. I really liked the soft lighting and the calmness of the lake, disrupted by the splash of a handful of pebbles at just the right time.
A shot from along the trail of the Highline path. This is early into the hike, but I felt like the trees from below, which reached only just above me, were like a protective picket fence.
Overlooking Grinnell Lake from the top of the park. We had perfectly clear skies this day, a fortunate window of clarity between smokey fire days on either side of the hike. The water is just so blue, I can't get over that. Between the ever-constant fires now and the retreating glaciers, we take action to protect our climate and our world so that views like this persist forever.
Me smiling at the top of Grinnell Lake overlook. You can't tell from this picture but I'm pretty tired and we still have to go 7 miles back to the car!
